Updates - UTE, MIDI Tapper, MIDI Router

February 16, 2021

Universal Tuning Editor has been updated to fix all reported issues. MIDI input methods have been updated for high-bandwidth controllers, and the macOS version now supports Dark Mode.

Not only for UTE but also for all H-Pi software based on a multi-project (multiple document) model, basic improvements have been made across the board. You now have more control over how the software evaluates open projects at quit, such that if you have not explicitly saved your work, your changes may be optionally saved automatically internally, or you may be prompted to save either internally, externally, or discard the project. When you reboot the application, you can also choose whether the app automatically recalls externally saved projects as well as internally saved projects. If for any reason the application crashes or for some reason you have to force-quit, whatever projects were open when this occurred can be optionally restored at the next launch.

In addition to the MIDi input and file handling features just mentioned, all reported issues have been fixed in the latest release of MIDI Tapper. Clicking items in the Events List now properly moves the Tap Pointer in the Detail View to the corresponding events in the source file. Several graphic items have been updated for better appearance on Hi-DPI displays, and the macOS version now also supports Dark Mode.

Reported issues in MIDI Router have also all been addressed. The monitor window now updates faster and features an option to save its contents as a text file. Sysex messages can now be created in the Script Editor much more easily. Previously the only option was to create an array of bytes and use the command NewSysex( bytes() ). Since quite often sending sysex is a sort of clerical task done according to some user manual which lists lots of bytes in hex format, now you can simply cut and paste strings from those manuals directly into your script, put quotes around the list of bytes, and the sysex message will be created. This can easily be used to make a script for sending however many sysex messages you need to any given destination, using a range of input and a select case block, as the example script New Sysex from String demonstrates.

As always, a big thanks to those of you who reported problems and worked with me to solve them. Working together, you help make things better for everyone.

Stay well,
Aaron
