UTE Update 2.1.0

May 02, 2022

The current update of Universal Tuning Editor fixes some reported crash issues when quitting the application and when closing project windows when multiple projects are open.

Two new features have also been added, concerning tuning export functions. First, a new .lua script export has been added for the UVI Falcon sample player. These scripts can retune up to incoming MIDI notes on up to 16 channels for a possible total of 2048 retuned pitches in a single script.

The Kontakt script export has also been updated to include 2048 possible retuned pitches (previously these scripts were limited to 128 pitches on one MIDI channel). This kind of multi-channel tuning support would have been included from the start for Kontakt, but at the time the original scripting language for Kontakt was released (version 2 at that time) the Kontakt scripting language did not have any mechanism for reading MIDI input channels. Luckily over the past decade Native Instruments has continued to develop their scripting language, so now it is possible.

Special thanks to Dolores Catherino for placing these requests and especially for helping to debug beta versions of the UVI Falcon script, since it was impossible for me to debug the scripts without owning the Falcon player myself (which I do not).

Please download the update from the UTE software page.

Stay well,
Aaron
